Try writing "mighty man" in sumerian or nitah.kalag.ga--which transliterated is "man" to be strong. I have fun saying it because the words together conjures up energy for me. It sounds like a magic spell. If you follow step-by-step, you shouldn't get lost.

Oct 4, 2010 - Hi, I'm not sure I understand your question. Where are you getting GA? You mean my screen name? Gisk Akina? I'd be happy to answer your question if you can elaborate. Thanks!

Oct 28, 2010 - @GiskAkina Hi great video, where did you learn cuneiform and Akkadian scripts? Do you do it by yourself or through university?
GiskAkina Says:
Oct 29, 2010 - Hello and sorry for my delayed response karlkarl. To answer your question--I am not a university student, artist, nor am I an expert in ancient semitic languages. I am, however, someone who believes in accurate research and bibliographic authority. If you have a passion for learning and a good book, that's all you need to learn ancient Akkadian. If you practice the language and work hard at it, you will know more than most people.

Oct 31, 2010 - Hi, What books can i get to learn writting? Can you translate mother and father for me? Great work Thank you

Nov 2, 2010 - Hello, I'm sorry to say that the Akkadian workbooks don't work that way. I can't look up father and mother in the index. Most of the tablets found were about Kings and deities. I have a translation for father-in-law (e-mu) but the characters together equals the translation. You can't take it apart and make each individual script stand for something. If you look up the author Daniel Snell, you should be able to get some of his books to learn Akkadian. Thanks for your interest!

Nov 2, 2010 - Hi, Thankyou for reply... Im mire interested in learning sumerian rather than akadian. I shall look up the authour that you gave me... Thank you and congratulations on your great videos

Nov 3, 2010 - Hi again, the author of the Akkadian workbook is different from the author of the Sumerian workbook. Be sure you get a hold of "The Manual of Sumerian Grammar and Texts" by John L. Hayes. Unfortunately, the book is out of print and costs close to 300 dollars to purchase through Amazon. See if you can borrow it from a university library. Best wishes!

May 1, 2011 - Hi! I wonder if you know how to write "strong woman". I have searched online, and found out that the Sumerian word for woman is "munus". It is similair to your "nin" on the other video - but it is only half of it. The word for strong is "kal" and you say it is "kalag.ga". Can you say "munus kalag.ga" for strong woman?
