Dec 19, 2011 - I´m trying to understand and somehow it makes a lot of sence BUT, am i the only one confusing the I that hes talking about with Emotions ?

Jan 10, 2012 - @streetwarrior31 hm... There is a subtle connection, emotions are tied to everything because they signify the changes in our body and mind. With Louie, one of his "I"'s dealt with expecting a food to always taste one way- the surprise led to anger and he is speaking about his process of dealing with this "I". We must form an overseeing "I", or a "Parental I" the steward self that has a sense of final purpose to be "awake"

Jan 12, 2012 - @yosephshepherd eh eh but that is extremely dificult....its like having double personality, isnt what your proposing? If i understand you perfectly, your proposing that whatever emotions we have, we must "try " to create a conscient outside "I" that balance ower irreflectid emotions, like anger, surprise, admiration etc. That would be a huge kind of personality disorder, becouse, we can control that kind of emotions...we can deal with them Sorry about my english, i´m portuguese

Jan 12, 2012 - @streetwarrior31 in the end, what i´m reafearing is that we allready "try " to create that steward self, i call it being reaponsable for my reations to my emotions. When i control my anger, i understand that if i dont control it, it will lead to actions that are irreflected to the causes that i want to achieve. Isnt that the kind of " steward self " that your talking about? A big and sincere hug from PT. Peace

Jan 12, 2012 - @streetwarrior31 That IS hard, it isn't easy to overcome habits and addictions. Personality is a mask, you borrow from favorite personality types and your real self is forgotten. I like alot of people, Bruce Lee, M.Jordan, Einstein, so I copy their personality types- all the people I copied, it could be 100's and I switch in and out, I act one way with my mother, another way with my friend, this is the real personality disorder haha.

Jan 12, 2012 - @yosephshepherd The conscientious "I" that we form outside the emotion is something that takes awhile to form- but it starts with looking at yourself, seeing how you react, the journal helps so that you can review and reflect on how you were in your emotion. Just by reviewing, you can alter how much you react (but that's not the point of this)

Jan 12, 2012 - @streetwarrior31 Yes, that is a good form of the "I"! I learned that what they mean by us being asleep is that we are operating in a pattern, like a programmed robot rather than enjoy the moment, we are overwhelmed with thoughts of having or not having, getting not getting. We are so used to living like this that not living like this that it is alien to us to be completely in the moment- that is why we must first build a Steward to tend to our sleeping selves :) It is not easy!

Jan 12, 2012 - interesting point of view( yours) So, you´ve said that we borrow or copy "personality types " of other humans and ower personality or self is somehow forgetten or impose by owerselfs to interact with diferent people in diferent moments...it makes a lot of sense. I would like to ear what is your thought on what type of personality would a person that grow up in the jungle or in the midle of nowhere without any human companion to relat about? would it be the exemple of the cartoon kid "mogli "?

Jan 12, 2012 - The kind of aproach that Gurdjieff makes about "self energie" the" I "that is talking about are opening,to me a lot of good perspectives in my future behavior, and my future posture relating to my atittudes. If we can manage or try too train ower control( i know its not a easy task but) upon ower "self" reations, i´m sure that we can turn on to be better humans beings and i´m almost sure that most of ower negative thoughts and actions towards others will be less and love will flourish naturaly
